Prophetic Promises Removed in Modern Versions By Ryan Timmons |

In our last study I pointed out a
prophetic discrepancy concerning the birth of Jesus Christ and the
ministry of John the Baptist. Now, I would like to examine a prophecy
concerning the second coming of Christ. Consider Matthew 25:13:
“Watch ye
therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour WHEREIN THE SON OF
MAN COMETH.” - In modern translations including the NIV, NASV, and
NKJV (in the footnotes), the entire phrase “Wherein the Son of Man
cometh” is removed. This leaves us to wonder what truly will happen
at that dreadful hour. In this text Jesus wanted to express the fact
that His return is imminent. The fearful expectancy is removed from the
modern bibles.
“Hear the word of the LORD, ye that tremble at his word; Your brethren that hated you, that cast you out for my name’s sake, said, Let the LORD be glorified: BUT HE SHALL APPEAR to your joy, and they shall be ashamed.” - In modern versions the phrase “he shall appear” is removed. Since the first prophetic utterance (Gen. 3:15) the people of God have relied upon the consistency of God’s prophetic promises. This utterance from Isaiah was a stronghold of hope for Israel during their time of captivity. Although this promise is reserved for a future event it is still able to awaken faith in a soul where hope has died. The Jew’s Messiah will appear to vindicate His chosen people! The Lord Jesus Christ will not only come to rescue the Jews, He will come bring an end to Satan’s tyrannical rule over every man. The Church will come behind Him with banners of victory to proclaim “Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ: for the accuser of the brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night” (Rev. 12:10). Can you imagine erasing the second coming of Christ from our Bibles? That would eliminate our hope. The Devil would certainly like to annihilate that intense longing that we have for the return of the King of Kings.
Only time and eternity will tell the amount of devastation accomplished by modern bible translations. The REMOVAL of words and verses means the removal of key doctrinal concepts. The ADDITION of words and phrases means the addition of heretical views. The CHANGING of words means the transformation of Truth into lies. Remember, the enemy of our souls is subtle. He has silently slithered into many pristine gardens. He has sidetracked many souls who were at peace in Eden. We can see his handiwork today in modern bible translations. These translations have comforted many sinners and encouraged folks to continue in their worldly lifestyles. Certainly, corrupted bibles cannot produce the “hope that purifieth”.
Yours for the kingdom,
Ryan Timmons
